Sommer Islands, 'Hogge money' shilling

Thank you for the interesting information on Coinquest about Hogge money.

I looked it up because I came across this piece. Any thoughts on it having any value other than as a reproduction? Would it be possible this is the kind of one sided 'Plachet' that a Coin might have first been developed on?

 Any info much appreaceted.

  • That is an interesting piece. You say it is a 'uniface' coin with pattern on one side and blank on the other? If so, it must be a novelty item or gift. If it were some type of dies for striking coins, the patterns would be incuse. See this page for more info on uniface coins:
