1944 Lincoln Cent - Mint Error?

Came across a couple of AU/BU 1944 Lincoln Cents.  Noticed the ‘flaw’ in Lincoln’s cheek compared to the other one.   Could this be a mint error or post mint  man made.  The reverse on both coins are unremarkable.
Thank you.
Paul

  • Sharp eye, Paul.

I looked closely at your photo, and I believe you have a "struck through" error coin. I can't prove it. It might be post-mint damage.

But the indentation looks clean enough, without burrs or other tell-tale signs, that it could be that a piece of lint (or something) got into the minting press and formed the error on Lincoln's cheek.

You understand, I'm sure, that this is a guess.

You should take it to a professional coin dealer or a knowledgeable collector for an in-person inspection. Seeing the coin in-person give a lot more information than Internet photos.

Paul I think your guess is a good one.
As always, I appreciate your input.
      Thank you.
